Custom Malas Information
This is my mala. It is made with Golden Jade, with Amber counters and Citrine as the center bead. You can kind of see the accents of florite and citrine that are tied into 'tassel' of the piece. I chose the Golden Jade becuase when I made it I was having a lot of difficulty in my personal life and I felt like I needed something to enhance my understanding and empathy. The citrine and florite are added to add 'healing' properties as well.
Currently I have several beads on hand that can be used on their own or can be mixed and matched to create a one of a kind piece of work. Each mala is hand knotted with a center bead and accents intertwined into the knots past the center bead and toward the 'tassel' at the end. The accents add just a little extra to the overall beauty and functionality of the mala (ie. stress relief, calming, etc.)
I like to work with a variety of different beads in a variety of colors and for different purposed. I like to use 8mm beads for the way they easily glide between the fingers when counting. It is my personal preference, but other arrangements can be made.
Beads I have used:
Amazonite, Amethyst, Autumn Jasper, Black Agate, Black Jade, Black Onyx, Breccaded Jasper, Brown Goldstone, Cherry Quartz, Chinese Writing Stone, Chrysanthemum Stone, Dumortierite, Fancy Jasper, Golden Jade, Grain Stone, Green Aventurine, Grey Feldspar, Indian Bloodstone, Dyed Jade in Red, White, Blue or Green; Landscape Stone, Lavender Florite, Mahogany Stone, Moss Agate, Olive Jade, Perdot Jade, Rainbow Obsidian, Red Aventurine, Russian Serpentine, Sardonyx, Serpentine Jade, Sesame Jasper, Snowflake Obsidian, Sodalite, Tiger Eye, Tigerskin Jasper, Tree Agate, Yellow Turquoise

Grain Stone
Golden Jade
Fancy Jasper
Dumortierite
I have made two malas out of this bead. One was purchased by the owners of a local yoga studio, the other is now in Morocco in the Peace Corp. I had a hard time giving these ones up, they were too beautiful and I didn't want to share! And you are in luck because I am ordering more on Tuesday!
Chrysanthemum Stone
Chinese Writing Stone
Cherry Quartz
Brown Goldstone
This man made bead is all about the bling. It has a brown base with flecks of gold. It is a really pretty bead to work with. I like to use it with Black Jade because the colors contrast so well. Brown Goldstone is said to help with power and money. I wonder if its the 'gold' in the bead...
Breccaded Jasper
Black Agate
Black agate is a somewhat transparent stone with varying shades of black, brown and white. Each bead has its own unique appeal. I always have a lot of fun making things out of black agate. It is a versatile bead that looks good on both men and women. I am still looking into the properties of Black Agate. Once I find them, I will add them to this post.
Autumn Jasper
Amethyst
This is a full mala made of amethysts. As you can see they are a deep solid purple color. They do come lighter, but they are harder to find. Amethyst's are said to have claming and protective properties. They also can be used for cleansing, energizing and aid in meditation.

New Beginnings
Over the past three years I have been making (and sometimes selling) jewelry. It is a hobby I enjoy, especially designing custom items. Some of my pieces are on sale at Indigo Wellness in Moline, IL. (I will post some of them on this site for you to see.) Other items are done on an individual basis for people to meet their wants and needs.
My most recent passion is creating custom malas. Malas are prayer beads that come in the traditional 108 beads and used for meditation. (I do make half malas of 54 beads or wrist malaswith 27 as well.) I try to match the beads used with the persons needs. For example using Florite to ease anxiety or Tiger Eye to help with balancing emotions and soften stubbornness. Mine is made with Golden Jade and Amber (my all time favorite!) with a hunk of Citrine as the centerpiece. Once my camera battery charges, I'll replace this sentence with a photo.
Over the next few days I will post pictures of the different beads I use and what benefits they have. If you have any questions about them, feel free to ask. If I can't help you, I can find someone who can.
I want to share my designs and creativity with those out there that with a similar passion. Comments and criticism are welcomed and encouraged.
