Latest Creations

I have been in super creativity mode lately. (Which might be why my hands have been hurting a lot more than usual.) Here are a few things I have been working on.

At Indigo's Open House I met a couple of lovely ladies who wanted some custom pieces of jewelry. This is a dragonfly pendant with Jet Black Czech beads. I think it turned out great!

This is something I have been working on for a while. A three piece set. First off is the bracelet.

Followed by the matching earrings.

And lastly the necklace. This set is going to be an extra special X-Mas gift!

This one if for my Aunt. She loves blue and I love these beads. Lapis Lazuli from Asia. They are definitely worth the wait while they go through customs!

I am calling this guy 'mini bunns'. My first pattern creation. I was inspired by those 'Littlest Pet Shop' toys my nieces get. I hope they like them. This is version 2 of the pattern.

These Earrings are for another person I met at Indigo's open house. I hope she likes them!

My friend Dana asked for a Lapis Lazuli bracelet. I think it turned out great!

This is the mini bunns version 1. I just don't like the nose.....

Ahhh, Florite and Citrine. What better combination.

Green Czech glass with sterling silver beads. Do you like my henna done by Julia?

Amber and Golden Jade. What an earthy mix.

My new mini mala in Swarovski crystal. I love this one. I wear it everyday!

I hope to get more things posted soon. I have so many more projects to finish in the next month I hope I get them all done!

Updated- Malas

I have been pretty bad about updating this blog, sorry.  I have continued to create all kinds of things and thought I would showcase them for you.
These are my personal favorites.  I wear one everyday and because they look fashionable nobody asks what they are.  They fit perfectly wrapped around the wrist twice.  Gotta have a little bling sometimes.
This is turqouise with 500 year old jade accents.  I was giddy when she let me keep  a couple of the jade beads!
This is an oldie.  Fancy Jasper, hand knotted.  This is one of the first ones I made and can see how my technique has changed.
This was for the same friend as the above.  I made it in 2 hours.  I got the beads and was so excited I had to get to work.
I absolutely love this one.  I think it is made from pink crazy horse jasper.  I got the beads from the local craft store instead of wholesale.  It was worth it!

Updated - Earrings

I started making earrings this past winter.  I figured why pay for something I can make myself!

These are copper colored pearls with glass beads.  They kept moving when I was trying to take the picture so they are a bit blurry.
This pair is a square garnet surrounded by Swarovski crystals.
Laboradorite surronded by Swarovski crystals.
This pair is Swarovski crystal surrounded by glass.
Amber is one of my favorite stones.  I made several pairs but this one is at the top of my list.

Updated - Necklaces

I really had fun making this one.  It is Swarovski crystal and moonstone.  In the right light the moonstone reflects.  Simply beautiful.
This one is made from black agate and carnelian.  I found the pendant and had to get creative.  I really like the way it turned out.  This one is a keeper.
I made this one for a friend's daughter's birthday.  She is really into fireflies, I hope she likes it.
This one is a variety of smoky and clear quartz.  I may have to make one for myself!
This is a mix of ametrine and labrodorite.  Both reflect the light very well and adds a bit of sparkle to the neckline.  I made one for myself.

It's been a while

I have been really bad about keeping this site updated. I still take requests and continue to create new items. 2 grad classes have gotten the best of me and has given me little time for updates. I will put some of my more recent creations soon.

This is a mala I made for my friend Michelle.  Michelle is a yoga instructor and practitioner.  Here she is demonstrating one of the uses of a mala.  Hers is not the traditional number of beads, it was custom designed to her specifications.  Very unique and beautiful.

Custom Malas Information

Malas are made to order in one of three sizes. A wrist mala consists of 27 beads, a half mala of 54 beads or a full mala of 108. Each tailored to meet your individual needs.

This is my mala. It is made with Golden Jade, with Amber counters and Citrine as the center bead. You can kind of see the accents of florite and citrine that are tied into 'tassel' of the piece. I chose the Golden Jade becuase when I made it I was having a lot of difficulty in my personal life and I felt like I needed something to enhance my understanding and empathy. The citrine and florite are added to add 'healing' properties as well.

Currently I have several beads on hand that can be used on their own or can be mixed and matched to create a one of a kind piece of work. Each mala is hand knotted with a center bead and accents intertwined into the knots past the center bead and toward the 'tassel' at the end. The accents add just a little extra to the overall beauty and functionality of the mala (ie. stress relief, calming, etc.)

I like to work with a variety of different beads in a variety of colors and for different purposed. I like to use 8mm beads for the way they easily glide between the fingers when counting. It is my personal preference, but other arrangements can be made.

Beads I have used:

Amazonite, Amethyst, Autumn Jasper, Black Agate, Black Jade, Black Onyx, Breccaded Jasper, Brown Goldstone, Cherry Quartz, Chinese Writing Stone, Chrysanthemum Stone, Dumortierite, Fancy Jasper, Golden Jade, Grain Stone, Green Aventurine, Grey Feldspar, Indian Bloodstone, Dyed Jade in Red, White, Blue or Green; Landscape Stone, Lavender Florite, Mahogany Stone, Moss Agate, Olive Jade, Perdot Jade, Rainbow Obsidian, Red Aventurine, Russian Serpentine, Sardonyx, Serpentine Jade, Sesame Jasper, Snowflake Obsidian, Sodalite, Tiger Eye, Tigerskin Jasper, Tree Agate, Yellow Turquoise

Accent Beads:

Florite, Citrine, Quartz and Jade.

I am in the process of ordering more, so others will be available soon.

New Beginnings

I have been a crafter all my life. Over my 33 years I have been a beader, kniter, crocher, painter, candle maker, soap maker, quilter, cross stitcher and a wide varieties of other crafts. (One of the only thing I have not done is scrap booking.)

Over the past three years I have been making (and sometimes selling) jewelry. It is a hobby I enjoy, especially designing custom items. Some of my pieces are on sale at Indigo Wellness in Moline, IL. (I will post some of them on this site for you to see.) Other items are done on an individual basis for people to meet their wants and needs.

My most recent passion is creating custom malas. Malas are prayer beads that come in the traditional 108 beads and used for meditation. (I do make half malas of 54 beads or wrist malaswith 27 as well.) I try to match the beads used with the persons needs. For example using Florite to ease anxiety or Tiger Eye to help with balancing emotions and soften stubbornness. Mine is made with Golden Jade and Amber (my all time favorite!) with a hunk of Citrine as the centerpiece. Once my camera battery charges, I'll replace this sentence with a photo.

Over the next few days I will post pictures of the different beads I use and what benefits they have. If you have any questions about them, feel free to ask. If I can't help you, I can find someone who can.

I want to share my designs and creativity with those out there that with a similar passion. Comments and criticism are welcomed and encouraged.

~Namaste~
